Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the British comedy duo behind such great things as Spaced and Shaun of the Dead and such not as great things as Hot Fuzz, have teamed up again to write and star in Paul, a film about two geeks who end up taking an alien named Paul with them on a road trip through the United States. Sounds... odd, honestly, but Pegg and Frost certainly have the sci-fi bona fides to make it work.

The film's cast is pretty excellent (Jason Bateman! Jane Lynch! Kristin Wiig!), but I'm not sure how I feel about the titular CGI alien voiced by Seth Rogan:

Between this and Burke and Hare, Simon Pegg's having quite a moment right now. Hopefully, this will have the send-up brilliance of Shaun but also, you know, be a good movie in its own right. (Which was my problem with Hot Fuzz.) I'd hate to see all this talent in one place add up to nothing.

So Paul has to look like every alien abductee's rendering of the alien? And hearing him speak, I can't help but picture him doing bong hits. We'll see.
