Watch teaser-trailer for Coen Brothers' "True Grit"

If you were waiting for a little girl in a movie to blow the little girl from Let Me In out of the water, this might be your movie. (Also, it's weird that that's your only condition for seeing movies.) True Grit is partly inspired by the Charles Portis book True Grit and partly by the 1969 John Wayne movie of the same name. To be honest, I'm not which was the greater influence or why -- I just like it when the Coens go country.

Hailee Steinfled plays a young cow-woman who enlists the help of Marshal "Rooster" Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) to avenge the death of her father. Finally! We get to see a little girl go after her father's killer/captor instead of the other way around. Even when the Coen brothers go backward in time, they're actually going forward.

I've never missed a Coen Brothers movie, starting with Blood Simple, they can pretty much do no wrong in my book, excepting maybe The Ladykillers, which was mildly disappointing coming from them, so I am psyched to see this one of course. I liked Fargo and Raising Arizona even better than No Country.

Wasn't the little girl/antique vampire in Let Me In a transgendered little boy?

Great! The Coen Bros get to snottily ruin a great John Wayne movie with that serial over-actor Bridges in tow. Boo hiss.

Jeff Bridges is a better actor than John Wayne.
