Watch: The trailer for Taxi Driver: A XXX Parody
By Peter SmithJuly 7th, 2011, 6:00 pmComments (8)We don't write about porn parodies much, because they're now too common to even seem funny anymore. (Back in 2009, we still got a kick out of them.) This one, however, warrants mention for a couple of reasons. One, the subject matter seems hilariously incongruous. This Ain't Star Trek XXX makes some sense — Star Trek is campy fun, right? Whereas Taxi Driver is a cancer-serious classic of '70s cynicism. Two — perhaps as a result of the subject matter — this trailer barely seems like a parody at all. It looks like basically an earnest remake of the original film, with a smaller budget.
Did the makers of Taxi Driver: A XXX Parody feel such reverence towards Taxi Driver that they forgot to put in any terrible double entendres at all? If so, they really dropped the ball, and I'll definitely be avoiding their future parodies of Raging Bull, L'Avventura, and Fritz Lang's M.

Hey @lt -- I never said this was tasteful or good. I don't think any Nerve writers are defending child prostitution.

Lmao. Best part is Ron Jeremy showing up in the diner scene. Perhaps this is a lil too serious for another porn parody, but I give em credit for trying. The subject matter is a lil too bleak for porn, parody or not.
At least it HAS a plot. Not much porn of the past 15 years has bothered with that little issue.
