Adam Lambert just replaced Freddie Mercury in Queen

After performing with Queen's surviving members twice on TV — American Idol and the MTV European Music Awards — Adam Lambert will tour as the band's new frontman. "The intention is to pay tribute to Freddie and the band by singing some fucking great songs," Lambert told the Daily Mail.
Original drummer Roger Taylor said of Lambert in December that "He has grown into a really great performer with an astonishing voice," which spurred rumors that Lambert would join officially. (Another rumored candidate: Lady Gaga.)
It's not the first replacement for Freddie Mercury since his death more than two decades ago. Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers toured with Taylor and guitarist Brian May in the '00s.
No dates have been announced yet. Although Queen is the only rock band endorsed by Iran, don't expect a Tehran gig.

This is...unacceptable. There is no replacement for Freddie Mercury.

Mika would have been a better fit.
I think he really would have been better, but I'm still interested to see how Adam does, I haven't seen his two prior performances. Off to youtube I suppose.
Hells yes Mika would of been better. And I automatically don't like Adam Lambert because he got his fame from a reality show/contest. American Idol. Hopefully the awesome of Queen will eclipse that?
Is there something purer about coming up through the usual route of corrupt management and pay-to-play ripoffs, whether in clubs or Ozzfest? If the guy actually has the goods, who cares where he got his break?
Disclaimer - I don't watch American Idol or listen to Queen, but my kid finds Lambert an inspiration and was really excited to hear about the tour yesterday. Good enough for me.
Queen died with Freddie. What's the problem, Brian? Got a tax bill you can't afford?
I can't think of anyone who's an acceptable sub for Freddie.
Freddie will never be replaced. But Queen is doing what they do, music. Don't pick on the band because they want to play their music.
That picture is reason enough to not listen to the new Queen.
Freddie mercury is Queen.
There is NO replacement for Freddy, they are impossibly big boots to fill but I am willing to give the guy a chance.
