What better way to publicize that hot new underground technology, the MP3? By signing that hot new underground band, The Beatles, of course! After nearly ten years of legal dispute that kept the biggest band of all time’s music off one of the world’s biggest downloading services (and provided instant justification for illegal downloaders everywhere), the Beatles catalogue finally came to iTunes today.
Call us old-fashioned, but the end of the longstanding feud between Steve Jobs’ Apple and the Beatles’ Apple Records just wouldn’t feel right without at least one awkward pun – which Jobs has graciously taken care of for us: “It has been a long and winding road to get here,” he said. Zing!
Now that the songs are finally available for on the iTunes store, time will tell if there’s anybody left that hasn’t already downloaded them from somewhere else, or actually feels like paying full price.
