Carey Mulligan lends her vocals to a new Belle & Sebastian song, “Write About Love”

Actors I love seem to be teaming up with musicians I love all over the place today. (Next up: Jon Hamm and Lil Wayne.) Carey Mulligan, the charming British actress who was nominated for an Academy Award for her role in An Education and stars in the soon-to-be-released adaptation of Never Let Me Go, joined the Scottish indie pop band for the title track of their new album, Belle & Sebastian Write About Love. Her voice, not surprisingly, is delicate and sweet and pretty much perfect for the band:

On a cynical note, this is probably great for both parties. On the one hand, Belle & Sebastian will get a nice bump from Mulligan's name, given all the PR she's doing at this very moment for her next movie. (She's on the cover of the October issue of Vogue.) And Carey can show off her singing chops, which might help with her stated desire to make a cameo on Glee. (She's apparently not famous enough. Well, she's famous enough for me, Ryan Murphy.)

Never Let Me Go comes out September 15 in the US, and Belle & Sebastian Write About Love will be released October 11.
