Meg and Jack White Stripes

With the Dead Weather exhausted from a hectic recording schedule and an epic tour and the Raconteurs drifting into side projects like the Greenhornes, the time is right for the White Stripes to come back.

Jack White told Vanity Fair that, thanks to his having just completed the band's pricey new box-set, the time could be right to record some new music with his ex-wife. "Now that we've gotten a lot of that out of our system, Meg and I can get back in the studio and start fresh."

The duo famously called for an extended break after Meg suffered an attack of acute anxiety and ended the band's last tour. In the intervening years, Meg got married to Jackson Smith, Patti Smith's son, and seems to be more relaxed about the intensity of her fans, touring schedule and having to keep up with a guitar virtuoso every night.

By the way, that box-set may be expensive, but it does include fancy headphones and a record player to play everything on. So, yeah, totally worth $500.
