Forbes has released its list of "Power Women 2010" this morning, and the results are interesting. Perhaps unsurprisingly, First Lady Michelle Obama topped the list. But, weirdly, pop singers Lady Gaga (#7) and Beyoncé Knowles (#9) are ranked higher than people in more authoritative positions of power, such as Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (#13) and Supreme Court Justices Elena Kagan (#25) and Ruth Bader Ginsburg (#77). (Also, how is Kagan, who heard her first case this week, already more powerful than Ginsburg?)
More interesting tidbits: Sarah Palin's (#16) primary occupation is listed as "political maverick," talk show host Ellen DeGeneres (#10) ranked higher than Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (#11), and "Lifestyle Guru" and ex-con Martha Stewart is only the 99th most powerful woman in the world.
