Weezer covers Toni Braxton "Unbreak My Heart"

Yes, brace your nerdy little eardrums, because this Weezer cover of Toni Braxton's "Unbreak My Heart" is quite awesome. Though it seems to be a one-off, it probably belongs on the nonexistent album, Why Didn't They Do This Earlier?

And by earlier, I mean 1996. Seriously, an intern and I did the math. The Toni Braxton single came out in '96, as did Weezer's hyper-personal Pinkerton, which we both agree is their best (though I suspect that she was little more than a zygote at the time, but whatever). So if this had happened then, the cover would've benefited from having an especially vulnerable, heartbroken Rivers Cuomo singing it, and Braxton could've won some Aaliyah-style hipster-cred. Synergy!

Anyway, since that didn't happen, here's something almost as good:

I wonder if Toni Braxton wrote the song herself. I hope so, since I hear she could use some royalty money.

It was written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster...so none of the royalty money will be going to anyone who needs or deserves it.

Because writers don't deserve to be compensated? What planet are you on?
