Stream the entire new Bon Iver album

Bon Iver's second album, titled Bon Iver, comes out June 21st. It's said to be a significant departure from their contemplative debut album, For Emma, Forever Ago. I will be able to tell you exactly how much of a departure it is momentarily, but you might as well go find out yourself; the entire thing is currently streaming at The New York Times website. First impression: the album cover (above) is really pretty. Second impression: so is the first song. Head on over to the Times and check it out.

Sigh. "Momentarily" means "briefly" not "soon".

The "soon" meaning is pretty widespread, but as a fellow cranky prescriptivist by instinct, I'm embarrassed to admit you got me.

More importantly though--what'd you think of the album?

Aaron Sorkin covered this discussion of "momentarily" in "The Giants Win the Pennant, the Giants Win the Pennant!" (an episode of Sports Night). As it turns out, Peter is right. Either usage is acceptable.

As for the Bon Iver album, it's good so far.

Am I the only one on Earth that will add "Beth/Rest" to their rotating playlist for the next several years? I feel like the childrenest of kids hearing that song.
