Tyler, The Creator’s new video remains classy, understated

Oh Tyler, you little rascal. You homophobic, misogynistic, violent, obnoxious rascal. A music video for a song entitled "Bitch Suck Dick?" Now it's personal. I don't know if you've heard, Tyler, but I'm the foremost authority on all things bitchy and dick-sucking (a fact that my high school peers were adamant about telling me), so I'm going to have to weigh in on this one.

"Bitch Suck Dick," the fourth single from Tyler's Goblin album, is an undeniably over-the-top song (it ends with the chant "Swag! Swag! Punch a bitch!"), but before the OFWGKTA fans come trolling with their typical spamming of "u r a dum faggot!!1!" comments, let me just say this: I get it. I do! The song is a spoof of hip-hop tropes — it's purposefully moronic. When viewed through that lens, the Tyler-directed music video is appropriate accompaniment, featuring scenes of Tyler and other Odd Future members performing various parodies, all with endearingly low production values.

But in the end, it's just not very funny. It's what I imagine a music video would look like if it was directed by a fifteen-year-old boy who thought MADtv was hilarious and responded to insults with "your mom." As one hip-hop fan pointed out, it's just a cruder version of Redman's "I'll Bee Dat!" video

Tyler, I'll offer one caveat: your original treatment idea of rapping in front of a rented whale would've been pretty funny — but I still don't like you.
