For all you Scott Mescudi (a.k.a. Kid Cudi) fans who aren't feeling his ambitious-but-possibly-disastrous foray into rock, I give you the video for "Marijuana," off Cudi's second album, Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager, directed, shot, and edited by the eagle eye of Shia LaBeouf, who became a fan after listening to "Day N' Night." LaBeouf will also be directing a short film of Cudi's "Maniac," featuring Cage, off the same album. If you look closely, you can spot the director making a couple Hitchcockian cameos in the video.

The timing of the video is interesting, when you consider that Cudi announced on his tumblr on April 1 that he had had a good run and was happy being sober, claiming it wasn't a joke. The video starts off with a little mariachi, and uses a shaky, cheeba-verite style and photo-album framing to capture Cudi and his posse negotiating Amsterdam's Red Light District leading up to performance and post-gig comedown. The footage was captured during High Times' 2010 Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam, and appears to be from the Melkweg club. Bottom line, not bad, but maybe LaBeouf needs to go back and pick Spielberg's brain some more.

LaBeouf's work isn't actually too bad. His effort in Cage's "I Never Knew You" video is worth watching.
