Former presidential candidate and Representative of Ohio, Dennis Kucinich, is suing a congressional cafeteria for dental damage he says he incurred after biting into an olive pit, presumably there by accident, in a sandwich wrap he purchased there on or about April 17, 2008. The lawsuit seeks one-hundred-and-fifty-thousand dollars in damages from companies involved with the cafeteria, located in the Longworth House Office Building.
According to a civil suit filed earlier this month in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, the offending wrap "contained dangerous substances, namely an olive pit," that anyone eating a sandwich wouldn't reasonably expect to be there. The suit alleged that the eight-term congressman suffered "serious and permanent" dental and oral injuries requiring multiple surgical and dental procedures. He is seeking damages for "past and future medical and dental expenses, compensation for pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment and other damages." He is also accusing the four companies involved of breach of implied warranty. I guess it's safe to say that Kucinich will not be visiting The Olive Garden anytime soon. A hearing is scheduled for April 8.
