Kirk Cameron defends his anti-gay views, assures us he has gay friends

Kirk Cameron, former child star and current adult nitwit, is still facing backlash from comments he made on Piers Morgan Tonight, in which he called LGBT people "unnatural" and "ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization." GLAAD blasted him for the remarks, of course; the internet has been rife with articles about his stupidity; even his own Growing Pains co-stars took to Twitter to contradict his views. (Piers Morgan did call him "brave," however. Which is silly — doing something you know will make people angry isn't automatically brave. Thankfully, most people don't put much stock into Morgan either.)

But Cameron wants to set the record straight. (No pun intended. But seriously though, he would prefer everything to be straight.) This isn't about hating gay people — in fact, Cameron totally loves gay people. Don't believe him? Well, you should, because get this: he has gay friends.

“I spoke as honestly as I could, but some people believe my responses were not loving toward those in the gay community. That is not true. I can assuredly say that it’s my life’s mission to love all people.”

He concluded, “I believe we need to learn how to debate these things with greater love and respect,” and added, “I’ve been encouraged by the support of many friends (including gay friends, incidentally).”

Ha. Hahahahaha. Oh yeah, Kirk, I'm sure those gay people are your really great "friends." I bet they love coming over for hors d'oeuvres, a few games of Boggle, and a tired-ass lecture on how they're slowly destroying civilization. You guys are besties, I'm certain. As certain as I am that they exist, and that you're not using the word "friend" to mean "barista at Starbucks" and "neighbor who doesn't like taking my phone calls." So call the dogs off, everyone! Cameron knows some queers!
