Rick Perry imploded in a spectacular fashion during last night's Republican Presidential debate, enthusiastically starting in on an explanation of his plan to "do away with" three government agencies, then failing to remember one of them. Seriously.
"And I will tell ya," Perry says, "it's three agencies of government when I get there that are gone. Commerce, education, and the, uh, what's the third one? Let's see…" From there, it only gets worse, and even Ron Paul tries to help him out, but to no avail. "I can't. The third one, I can't. Sorry… Oops," Perry finally concludes.
Perry remembered later on in the debate that the other government agency he hopes to destroy is the Department of Energy, but it seems to be too little too late — watch the clip above for the full embarrassing ordeal.
The whole thing is actually so excruciating that there's no point in even addressing how insane the idea of abolishing the Department of Education (or any other major government agency) really is. Though, to play devil's advocate, if an agency's name isn't worth remembering, maybe no one would really miss it. Energy isn't exactly a hot button issue these days anyway, am I right?
