It's hard to tell who's more annoying: smart-ass teenagers or dumb politicians. Which is why I find it hilarious that a sixteen-year old from New Jersey has publicly challenged Rep. Michele Bachmann to a debate on the Constitution. Amy Myers, a sopohmore, wrote an open letter to the Congresswoman, calling into question her knowledge of the Tea Party's favorite document.
Now, ample evidence exists that Bachmann is not driven by factual accuracy. She tends to speak freely about things that she doesn't quite understand, has made a couple big mix-ups in recent speeches, and she talks a lot about how she uses prayer to make simple day-to-day decisions. In fact, with Christine "not a witch" O'Donnell fading from view, she's pretty much the most visible member of the crazy right-wing crew.
I doubt Bachmann will even dignify this with a response — she didn't get to where she is by having debates. But even more so, taking on a kid is a kind of a lose-lose for her. Lose, as she certainly would, and she's, well, lost. Win, and she's publicly humiliated a kid. Which isn't exactly platform you can run on. Still, it's pretty great that this kid is getting national press.
