Vin Weber, former Minnesota congressman and top aide to Tim Pawlenty, let it slip that Michele Bachmann has many admirable qualities that help her in being so popular, including sex appeal. After what I like to imagine was a very stern talking to from Pawlenty (with angry words a-Pawlenty! right? right?), Weber issued an apology, stating that:
I made a mistake that was disrespectful to my friend, Congresswoman Bachmann… I've been a Bachmann supporter in her congressional bids and I apologize. I was not speaking on behalf of Gov. Pawlenty's campaign but nevertheless, it was inappropriate and I'm sorry.
Bachmann, who has been flying ahead in recent polls and popularity, hasn't said anything about the comment. Should she? Of all the negative things you could say about Michele Bachmann, Weber's initial comment was fairly innocuous and probably not worth throwing down the sexism card.
