Apparently, we're still discussing this "Ground Zero mosque" thing — at least according to political candidates trying to make a name for themselves. Anderson Cooper had one of these nutjobs on his show the other night: a North Carolina Congressional candidate named Renee Ellmers. Cooper starts by playing her incendiary campaign ad, which should give you the general idea of what we're dealing with.
The clip is over nine minutes long, but every second of it is worth watching:
When you're done with that, if you're still enjoying yourself, check out his next interview, with Andrew Shirvell. Salon describes Shirvell as "an assistant attorney general in Michigan [with an] obsessive campaign against University of Michigan student assembly president Chris Armstrong, who is openly gay (or, as Shirvell puts it, "gay")."
This one's eleven minutes long, but if you're blowing off this workday, we recommend you watch all of it. You'll see why Cooper may leave CNN and start a daytime talk show — he's mad as hell and can't take it anymore.
