It's happened before. An attractive brunette you'd never heard of appeared out of the blue, started spouting some of the craziest socially conservative nonsense you'd heard in a long time, and then proved to be bad for her party and lost the election. Only this time around — when it's Christine O'Donnell and not Sarah Palin we're discussing — it looks like she might not be in it for the long haul.
O'Donnell was that rare candidate who never seemed likely to win, had no demonstrable qualifications (I literally would not trust her to run my fake-wrestling federation), and yet managed to get in the news for every goddamned thing she ever said. Which is why, when she lost, everyone immediately speculated that she'd go join Sarah Palin at Fox News.
Fortunately, however, that doesn't look like it's going to happen. The network released an unequivocal statement earlier today saying that they would not hire her. Those of us hoping that she will slowly slide back into obscurity were slightly heartened by the news.
