Guy who played Urkel no longer wants to be known as "guy who played Urkel"

After ostensibly having retired suave alter ego Stefan Urquelle, actor Jaleel White says that he doesn't miss playing Steve Urkel on the '90s sitcom Family Matters. "I don't [miss playing Urkel]. I really don't," the actor recently told People magazine. "I'm not trying to get away from it or anything like that, but I don't miss the role at all, really. I just want to work."
Well, of course the dude doesn't miss playing Urkel! That's like Bill Buckner saying he doesn't miss flying back into Boston after the 1986 World Series. Or a recent parolee from a maximum-security correction facility saying that he doesn't miss the mandatory eight-hour exercise sessions. Or... I dunno, someone else who went through something that sucked talking about it retrospectively.
White, who says that he is a "very versatile actor," has actually proved he can hold his own in a series of other roles, playing a memorable bit part in 2006's Dreamgirls, an inmate on an episode of House, and himself in the 2002 Frankie Muniz human rights violation movie Big Fat Liar. But the suspenders, the Coke-bottle glasses, the incessant whining at a pitch that only dogs and fairies can hear — that shit stays with you forever, man. Only a team of spiritual leaders and a jug of Carlo Rossi can make those demons stop screaming at night.

Also Sonic the Hedgehog in three separate TV series.
I played basketball with jaleel a few months ago. He was cool.
Fortunately, unlike Screech, this guy turned out to be normal looking. But those crazy eyes will always give him away.
Well, he shouldn't have done a damn good signature JOB!!!!
i never watched family matters, so even though i know who steve urkel was, he'll always be the great dancer in cee-lo green's music video to me.
He did a great job in his cameo on House....
I thought so, too, but then I was also thinking it would make a great show for Urkel to come back as White is today and kick the butts of everyone who ever made fun of him.
He also did a good job in an episode of Psych.
Bravo, writer. Bravo. You go far BEYOND the deliver of a mere article. ;)
