Jenny Slate may join the ranks of Saturday Night Live's one-season members — a group that includes Janeane Garofalo and Ben Stiller. Will Forte left the show, and four new cast members are joining for the show's thirty-sixth season, which means one more current cast-member won't survive the giant overhaul, and word has it that member is Slate. Abby Elliott, daughter of Chris Elliott (and the one dating Fred Armisen) will stay.
We can only imagine the stream of profanities she must have issued upon hearing the news, given that her most famous SNL moment was a curse: she accidentally said "fucking" on live TV on her debut on the show during the Biker Chick Chat sketch. That expletive, and resulting hoopla, brought her a bunch of internet support, including a "Don't Fire Jenny Slate" campaign, complete with it's own website. Whether this news will garner the same response, only time will tell.
If there is any good news to be gained from Slate losing her job, (especially in this economy) with her off the show, there might be time for a new installment of the adorable stop-motion short "Marcel the Shell With Shoes On."
