With Mad Men not coming back on the air until early 2012, Jon Hamm's got plenty of time on his hands to work on other, less subtext-filled projects. He's already set to be a part of a new Judd Apatow/Paul Feig film starring Melissa McCarthy, and now IFC has just announced that he's joining the cast of The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret. While the network is staying hush on what character he will play, he will definitely play a prominent role, appearing in five out the season's six episodes.
Given Hamm's stellar appearances on SNL and 30 Rock, it'd probably be hard for him not to be hilarious in Todd Margaret, especially when you consider he'll be acting alongside David Cross and Will Arnett. The new episodes are set to premiere in January, at just about the time Mad Men will re-emerge, making 2012 an awfully Hamm-y year for cable television.
