Looks like Larry King is aiming to join the esteemed ranks of Han Solo and Austin Powers. During his CNN special "A Dinner with the Kings," King informed his famous guests that he wants to be frozen upon his demise, so he can eventually be brought back to life.
Larry and his wife Shawn played host to Conan O'Brien, Seth MacFarlane, Tyra Banks, Russell Brand, Shaquille O'Neal, Quincy Jones, and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey in an hour-long special last night, and waxed philosophical with their guests over food from Wolfgang Puck. In one segment, the conversation turned to what keeps you up at night. For Shaq, it's his good deeds daily checklist. For Tyra, it's
what the hell smiling with your eyes even means miniscule work details. But for Larry, it's death. Luckily, he's got a solution: cryogenics. King told his celebrity pals:
"My biggest fear is death, because I don't think I'm going anywhere… I don't have the belief, I'm married to someone who has the belief, so she knows she's going somewhere. And I wanna be frozen in the hope that they'll find whatever I died of and bring me back. And she [Shawn King] said to me, 'If you come back in two hundred years, you won't know anybody.' Okay, I'll meet new people."
Only O'Brien seemed to grasp just how batshit Larry sounded, as some guests busied themselves with Mark Twain quotes (MacFarlane) and others revealed their panty raid of the King home (Brand, naturally). Despite O'Brien's valiant efforts to dissect King's lunacy, topics such as what Shaq is thankful for slowly buried the announcement.
Gosh, if sound bites like these just roll like these roll off the guests' backs, you know Jack Dorsey is having some freaky dinner parties.
