NBC apologizes to Michele Bachmann for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon incident

After the Roots played Fishbone's "Lyin' Ass Bitch" during Rep. Michele Bachmann's appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last Monday, NBC has issued an apology to Bachmann, with a spokesperson for Bachmann saying that the network called the song choice "not only unfortunate but also unacceptable." According to the spokesperson, NBC late night executive Doug Vaughan "privately" reached out to Bachmann's camp through a letter, and added that the band was "severely reprimanded" for playing the song.
For her part, Bachmann — who addressed the controversy on Fox News' American Newsroom on Nov. 23, stating that the song choice was "clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite, [and] also, I think, sexism as well" — has accepted NBC's apology, with CNN reporting that she had a "nice conversation" with Fallon yesterday. Which, assuming Fallon has seen Mean Girls, I like to think went a little something like this: "I'm sorry my house band played 'Lyin' Ass Bitch' when you appeared on my show the other night. It's not your fault you're such a lyin' ass."

So, here's where she loses all sympathy from me, when you reply with something as trite as "clearly a form of bias on the part of the Hollywood entertainment elite, [and] also, I think, sexism as well."
The one band made the call to play this song when she came walking out (and she probably didn't even know it was a thing until someone told her hours later), but to her, it's suddenly a conspiracy of the entertainment industry.
If you're trying to look crazy, don't give us so much damned ammo.
You are correct.
I could care less for Bachmann or any Republican, I love to make jokes about them, and the "Hollywood elite" comment just made her look foolish-er, but... I'm VERY disappointed that Questlove and the band pulled a stunt like that. I wouldn't know the song if I heard it, but someone was bound to tell her the next day. They showed such poor judgement and damaged their integrity and Jimmy's, even if he didn't know about it in advance. It kind of sours me on watching them from now on, common sense is pretty big in my book.
You are even more correct.
Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo, cry me a fucking river. You don't like the Hollywood entertainment industry, go eat some mac and cheese with Pat fucking Robertson.
for John Son.
Good for NBC: It's very cruel to pick on the mentally disabled, so I'm glad that they didn't condone this abuse towards Bachmann.
ha ha ha
Actually the problem is Michele Bachmann hasn't lied enough. She stands for everything she believes in: That the rich shouldn't pay any taxes, and that if poor people believe in Jesus, in the next life, they'll be in the kingdom of heaven. The song they should have played is "Evil Cut-Throat Bitch".
Or NBC could have treated her with respect and given her a chance to explain why she believes the way she does. If, as you say, she is too cut-throat, she'd be kicked to the curb.
I can't believe all the people here who demand that they be treated respectfully but don't treat others that way. Please don't say that Bachmann, conservatives, et al, don't deserve respect; there are plenty who think the same thing about those left of center.
because there haven't been enough Republican debates to let her share her disgusting world view with America. I'll start respecting teabaggers when they learn to spell their signs correctly.
@Yeah - That's a helpful attitude; you'll respect people when they agree with you. Grow up.
So sorry, is this an *adult* conversation? Am I grounded now? I can respect people and not agree with them. However, I don't respect people who are willfully ignorant = teabaggers.
No thanks, Son, but I will refuse to support those who can't separate entertainment and politics. You make your dining arrangements and I'll make mine.
Causes earthquakes and hurricanes. Jesus told me so.
+1 - Mac and Cheese. Your display of true idiocy is illuminating for all.
Why thank you, Publius. Don't forget to donate money to our church.
You get as much respect as you normally give others, greg. See what you can do about growing up.
I'm sorry, did you think this was an *adult conversation* ?!
Greg is the conservatroll.
When a pol pretends a book tour is really a presidential campaign, it will gin up anything to create media buzz. Plus, it was Questlove's tweet and not five seconds a song no one's heard of that created the 'controversy'. Those tweets will get you every time!
