A few weeks ago, Arianna Huffington dropped by The Daily Show and made a generous promise: she was chartering free buses to Jon Stewart's Restoring Sanity Rally in Washington, D.C. on October 30. Now, Oprah has one-upped her — she's buying people plane tickets.
At the time of Huffington's offer, Stewart joked that she had just "Oprah'ed" the busses. "You get a bus, you get a bus, everybody gets a bus, darling." Except he wasn't joking. According to HuffPo:
Audience members were then told to look under their seats, where they found red envelopes featuring tickets to Stewart's rally. "You're going to the rally! You're going to the rally! You're going to the rally! Everybody's going to the rally!" Oprah exclaimed. "Now get out there and restore some sanity!"
Now, granted, Oprah's only going to fly one show's worth of audience-members, whereas Arianna is promising busses for everyone who wants them. Is that the big difference between them? Is the Huffington Post just a not-as-fancy, more populist version of Oprah? Either way, everyone who can make it, by plane, bus, or bicycle, should probably try to go.
