Pat Sajak has admitted to doing what any logical person in his position would do: hosting Wheel of Fortune wasted. In a new interview, the sixty-five-year-old said he used to go on-air after several rounds of drinks, "when I first started and was much younger and could tolerate those things."
Reminiscing about the show's glory days, Sajak went on, "Our dinner breaks would be two-and-a-half hours long while they drove in new cars and boats and gazebos and stuff. So at NBC in Burbank we had a place called Los Arcos across the street, and they served great margaritas. So Vanna and I would go across and have two or three and six and then come and do the last shows and have trouble recognizing the alphabet."
Pat, we hardly knew ye. He also mentioned that the old episodes would be "great tapes to get a hold of," so I hope someone's digging through the archives as we speak for clips of a slurring, stumbling Vanna.
