Portlandia renewed for second season

It looks like we'll be seeing more of Kyle MacLachlan "slappin' da bass" as Mayor of Portland in 2012. IFC announced today that they've ordered a new season of Portlandia, ten episodes in all, starting next January. This is great news because the show is one of the funnier sitcoms on TV today, with Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein exhibiting great chemistry as they leave no alternative stone unturned in the slacker mecca. The show has become a modest hit for IFC, as they lean on a slate of new and classic comedy shows to bolster their lineup of indie films. IFC said the first three episodes of Portlandia had 1.1 million total viewers, promising numbers for a small cable channel. If you haven't seen the show, here's a taste, with the deadpan Aubrey Plaza as a house sitter.
