Real Housewife of D.C. possibly kidnapped, possibly just desperate for attention

Remember Michaele and Tareq Salahi, the notorious famewhores Beltway power couple who famously gate-crashed a state dinner at the White House in 2009 and then starred in one season of Bravo's now-canceled Real Housewives of D.C.? Well, Michaele might have been kidnapped, and Tareq wants everyone to help find her.

Tareq told TMZ that he last saw Michaele around 11 a.m. Monday morning at their Virginia home. That night, she called to tell him she was going to her mother's house nearby, but Tareq maintains her mother never heard from her.

Tareq called the Warren County Sheriff's Department for help, and was told that Michaele had already called the police to let them know she was okay and was simply in the middle of dealing with some "family issues."

Tareq, for his part, believes that his wife was coerced into making the calls, and issued the following statement to TMZ:

"It is our belief as of last night, that Michaele Salahi may have been kidnapped or abducted and is being held under duress and forced to tell persons, including authorities, she is okay. We are asking the public to please be on the look out for her and if found please contact the authorities."

Hmm. Considering the Salahis are planning to auction off the assets from their failed Virginia winery on the 18th and then re-open it with an invitation-only party that will be filmed for a "major reality show," this all sounds a little fishy.

Unless of course, she's actually been kidnapped. In which case, you know, safe return and all that. But man, I really pity those kidnappers. Can you imagine how many newspapers they're going to have to go through to cut out enough letters to spell her name repeatedly?

Also, should she re-appear safely, with some kind of unverifiable story, these two really are the worst kind of person. Seriously.
