If you've ever watched a Saturday Night Live sketch and thought, "How on earth did a group of professional comedians think that was in any way funny?" — and I know you have, because we all have — maybe this video will help explain. Shot at 4:30 in the morning on "writer's night," it features cast member Taran Killam recreating the video for Robyn's "Call Your Girlfriend," with fellow members Abby Elliott, Vanessa Bayer, and Bobby Moynihan pitching in with a low-tech light show. It's actually pretty charming:
But as I'm sure most of you know, there is always that moment when you've been working on a paper or work report or a task of any kind, really, when you realize that it's almost dawn and you've been up forever and suddenly any damn thing is the funniest thing you've ever heard. And you will sit around giggling like a maniac (actual laughing would take too much energy) because inside your brain is crying and if you have to look at Paradise Lost for even one more second you will kill someone.
And now you know how SNL works.
