It looks like Skinsgate will not end anytime soon. The MTV show is offending nerds for being too porn-y, while also offending the cool kids for not being as good as the original British series. And now the show has officially offended those in favor of profits: buckling under pressure from the Parents Television Council, Taco Bell is pulling its ads from Skins.
The Mr. Feenys at the PTC threatened the company with a boycott. Scared sauceless, Taco Bell caved and issued the following statement:
We advertise on a variety of MTV programs that reach our core demographic of 18 to 34 year olds, which included the premiere episode of Skins. Upon further review, we’ve decided that the show is not a fit for our brand and have moved our advertising to other MTV programming.
But was there really "further review" of Skins? If so, then they would know that a PTC boycott is exactly the type of thing teens go wild for! Silly Taco Bell, you could have been the fast-food joint of choice for hip, rebellious teens who hate their parents and bowels. But whatever, I don't even know if teens eat anymore, I'm so old.
