You may have heard the terribly important news a couple weeks ago that aging Italian model Fabio Lanzoni was named the new Old Spice pitchman by Portland's heavyweight ad agency, Wieden + Kennedy. This is a coup for the romance-novel-cover legend, as royalties from his 1994 album, Fabio After Dark, are probably not rolling in.
Fabio recently lost a "Mano a Mano in El Bano" YouTube popularity duel to the original Old Spice guy, Isaiah Mustafa, but the fifty-two-year-old, unlike Mustafa, got the chance to read the weather for Portland's KOIN-TV, with the three-day raincast looking good for "een-land" areas. His self-aware, third-person-self-referencing report is good stuff. Maybe Wieden + Kennedy could next have Fabio get in an argument with the Land O' Lakes Indian maiden.
