As we enter the mid-season TV wasteland, we can take comfort in the fact that two excellent comedies of different stripes will be returning to our screen after the holidays are over. (Well, many excellent comedies will, but these have been gone for way too long.) Portlandia, Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein's sketch-comedy paean to the Pacific Northwest and all its '90s-loving, hipster-ish idiosyncrasies, will be back on IFC come January 6. And 30 Rock — which I guess is now NBC's most successful and high-profile sitcom? — comes back after a break to accommodate Tina Fey's second pregnancy on January 12.
And today both shows have released sneak peeks of their respective new seasons! Think of them as early holiday presents. 30 Rock's is a bit more of a straight forward promo, so feel free to skip the first minute or so of recap:

I hate to sound like a broken record, but do you think these two shows can make up for the lack of Community? I'll need something to get me through the dark nights of January and February, and booze only goes so far.
