Much like Garfield Minus Garfield, the new Tumblr 3eanuts reveals the bleak core of a beloved childhood comic by subtracting the final panel of Peanuts cartoons. (Leaving only three, hence the title.) And while Garfield Minus Garfield uses that strip's general banality and unchanging setting to expose John as an agoraphobic schizophrenic, 3eanuts takes advantage of Charles Schulz's more high-minded musings and creates something a bit more philosophically soul-crushing:

It also proves that Lucy really is the budding sociopath we've always suspected:

Of course, the deep sadness of Peanuts was always pretty close to the surface to begin with, so frankly I'm surprised it took someone this long to come up with a way to capitalize on that fathomless melancholy and make it hilarious. You can see many more examples over at 3eanuts.

Doesn't Peanuts already have enough existential emptiness?

My favorite Peanuts for existential emptiness was the kid whose name, chosen by his dad, was a number. Charlie Brown asks if this was his dad's way of protesting, and the kids says "No, it's his way of surrendering".
