While William Shatner may have spent the latter-half of his musical career parodying himself, he's always actually been himself. So when he signed up for Google+ like millions of other people last week, he was surprised to find himself banned from the service shortly after. The reason: site administrators thought Shatner was an impersonator. But fear not, his account has since been restored, allowing him to voice his confusion: "I still do not know what happened but I will refrain from saying hello again for a while just in case. My best, Bill."
It's got to be tough for celebrities to navigate the world of social media, with countless privacy issues and potential imposters in the woodwork. (Who wouldn't want to be Captain Kirk?) If anything, I guess celebs should be thankful for Google's thorough vetting of their site, even if it accidentally kicks them off for a short time.
