YouTube videos can now be as long as fifteen minutes

Good news for directors of not-very-short shorts: as of today, YouTube will allow videos up to fifteen minutes in length. The old limit of ten was apparently meant to make it harder to upload whole movies/TV shows and thereby bring down the wrath of copyright holders who already have mixed feelings about the whole web-video thing; YouTube explains that as they’ve refined their content-blocking tools, they’ve gotten less worried about somebody sneaking a whole season of Top Chef onto there. Personally, I’m excited because this means Iron Maiden’s more progressive material can now make it to YouTube intact.
