"Larry Sanders Show" coming to DVD in September

Gary Shandling fans: rejoice. The complete six season series will release on DVD this September, according to Aspecialthing.com. (Though Amazon says the release date is Nov. 2, we will defer to the nerd message board.)
If there was ever a mid-September Yom Kippur gift you give to yourself, it's this. The Larry Sanders Show was the first show-behind-the-show (please correct me if I'm wrong) - a late night talk show boasting Garry Shandling as its host, the ever-tempestuous Rip Torn as Shandling's producer and Jeffrey Tambor playing sidekick. The cameo list is a mile long: Mary Lynn Rajskub, Jeremy Piven, Jon Stewart, Bob Odenkirk, Sarah Silverman, Scott Thompson. If you have a spare $111 and a deep and abiding love of comedy, Hollywood ego, social failure and good writing, put this show in your mind.

I believe the first show behind the show was The Dick Van Dyke Show, actually.
Not sure if that counts, since they were all comedy writers, not performers. I Love Lucy is a stretch, but it did have show behind the show episodes.
Danny Thomas, Mary Tyler Moore and WKRP in Cincinnati were based on the show-behind-the-show concept, but the grandaddy had to be Jack Benny.
Loved Larry Sanders show, but have you seen Gary Shandling lately? Dude looks bizarre and kind of off-putting.
