Needless to say, the first Nerve Personals party was a huge success! Thanks to all you hip cats for showing up and partying the like rock stars you are. Sure, we ran out of Skyy Vodka and room a little too soon, but now we'll know better for next time. And there will definitely be a next time (stay tuned to the Personals for details). In the meantime, amuse yourselves with the following snapshots taken via the Remote Lounge consoles throughout the night chances are you're in one, and you're making out. |

Too many guys, it was a real sausagefest.
Remote Lounge was too small, not enough space.
No dance floor? Come on, that sucked!
Bartenders wayyyyy to slow.
though i was none too happy about having to wait outside for almost an hour before gaining admittance to the party - once i was there, i was happy i was. and yes, a lifetime goal of mine has been realized - there is a picture of me making out on the internet.
damn... what a bunch of sassy hotties you are :) consider this my rsvp to the next one
How did so many guys get invited?? Now we know that there HAVE to be dudes posing as chicks. I still don't know who invited me...
Hmm... I had received an invitation to this party that stated that I could RSVP and invite two "secret crushes" from Nerve Personals. I did so and was all set to go until I logged on a couple of days before the party to see it had been opened up to EVERYONE in Nerve Personals. It's absolutely fine to do that, but I felt the party had been misrepresented to me and anyone else who had received the initial invitation, and I was concerned that it would end up being an overcrowded mess and not the smallish, intimate affair it had been painted to be, so I didn't go. Looks like my suspicions were right. Look, do the parties any way you want to do them, but don't say you're going to to it one way and then change plans.
I heard bjork wandered in on the party, though I didn't see any photographic eveidence of *that*......
If I begin an article that opens "Needless to say..." why would I want to read any more?
These should happen at least once a month!
Yeesh. Didn't know I could be so photogenic while making out with someone I didn't know. Thanks Nerve!!!
How can I get into that party?!?! It was hella cool
Yessssss. that fuckin sucked with the SMALL venue and the LONG ass line outside. You neeeeded a much larger space and it would have been much cooler if it actually WAS invite only and not open to all the world of nervegeeks.
live and learn nerve.....oh yea, sucks that your are killing chat too.
how about a nerve party in Chicago?
Overall I'm glad you guys threw it, and a few things could have made it better. For one, invites should have been sent to males and females, and each person on the list should have been able to bring a nerve or non-nerve person. That would have fixed the imbalance of the sexes. And you should have kept the list closed or moved the party to a larger venue. Finally, the social interaction was lacking... I've had an easier time meeting people in random bars. What was the point of inviting my crushes only to wander around in the dark squinting at people's nametags? There should be a crush board at the next party so there's a fun way of actually meeting your personals crush.
Due to it's voyeuristic nature, Remote Lounge was a great place to have the party. If you had stuck to the original plan of inviting women and letting them pick their crushes, it would have probably stayed a good mix (people would have been there because other people were actually interested in them).
Opening it to the general public at the last minute possibly allowed a much higher ratio of desperate, boring-looking business boys in... the ones who've since been complaining about the party and being unable to "hook up".
As for myself, I had a great time. Thanks for the party and I hope you have them more often.
So , apparently NO on in Nerve is over 25. Nice editing, folks.

I know for a fact several people in those pictures (and at the party) were at least 30 (okay, 29) - me included. What's with all the it's-my-party-and-i'll-cry-if-i-want-to mentality? We got to go to a party with all ya can drink vodka and funky monitors to play with. From where I was standing, people looked like they were having a good time.
...it was a good party. the person who invited me found me and now I have a lovely picture of me on the net making out with her, thanks Nerve...
so where was this party?
looks like it would have been fun. when do we get one of those in boston? and how did you pick the people who were "invited"? From reading this it sounds like it was an open-invitation event.. but initially people were privately invited. How did this work? Who are the chosen ones? (and do i need to dump more cash into the nerve credit thing-a-ma-gig?) lovely. lemmie know when we get one of these in the northeast. -naughty_or_nice
Where was this Party, When are you coming to San Francisco?
I second the motion of bringing the shindig to San Francisco, for at least three reasons:
1. Almost all the disagreeable dotcommers have packed up their palm pilots and gone elsewhere, which means that it's just us cool, thoughtful, deserving people still in town. Really.
2. We've had a rough year (all right, not as rough as NYC, but still rough)
3. It's gonna be "summer" soon, which means that an arctic chill will descend upon the entire city and we'll need all the warming-up we can get...
damn.... wish I'd known there was one! You might have sent an evite to those of us who've given you MONEY for the personals.... I obviously hadn't hit the site during the invite period.
I don't know why some of you think it was a good party. It wasn't. This could have been any other generic party, like are thrown every night of the week here. nerve.com gets points off for making it so open, so it was very off-balance with too many dudes and too many desperate-looking women. The place was too small and not fun to mingle around those stupid monitors.
I didn't know about this party but then I'm not in NY, so sweat off my not-hairy back. I'd like to think that a party in the Los Angeles area be in the works. I don't like the idea of being invited. Because who is picking and getting picked and why? Online, the personals are essentially free and open to all. The party should be the same way. Either have a bigger venue or charge a few bucks and limit attendance by having folks RSVP.
When were the invites sent? I would've come if asked!
I am upset I wasn't invited and why is it so fucking hard to get nerve magazine in Chicago?? Can I please subscribe?

Maybe I am not reading the correct part of the site. WHAT PARTY? WHEN? How does one get invited?????
I heard about the rooftop party (again after the fact) where invitations were sent if you were REFERRED by another Nerve member who thought you were cool.
Oh my God, I am having a flashback. This is high school all over again.
...and I LIVE in New York....

What party, was their a anoncment? if so you will have to do a better job.
If their really was a party, how about in Chicago next.
Bring the party to Portland! (Oregon, that is.) I'm sure you could get Nerve hotties from Washington and California to come as well. There are definitely large enough venues here.
BRING ONE TO TORONTO, PLEASE!!! sounds awesome....
