Though this book looks pretty cool, as does the artwork, i'm just re-reminded, as a female working in animation, what a boys club this all is. I wish there was a female artist here with a different perspective.
I resent the "boys club" comment. Maybe you are just too close to the animating world. Either way, it seems very complacent. There is nothing stopping you, as a female artist/animater, from publishing a book like this.
I suppose when you design a woman, you have your own ideal woman in mind. I find in interesting to look at it like this, to see what these guys are looking for, or what they secretly desire.
I found a couple of the pieces pretty chauvinist. They represent a male-dominated view of sexuality, where women are nothing more than objects to be used to satisfy male lust, and then easily discarded. Isn't sex something fun that men and women do TOGETHER, as equals? The contempt for women is disturbing.
"How dare a male have a male point of view. Can't we just limit art to multi-gender artists with no specific opinion or ideal of what something looks like? Blank white pages should be the only allowed artwork. Or is that racist?"
Beautiful & evocative stylized art. I love Scott Morse's work personally.
MATHURBATION. Fellows...this is NOT what female masturbation is like. WHERE is the jungle? Roaring lions? Why is the woman not swinging like Tarzan from vines? Not impressed.
