Transgressions of a Dangerous Mind
by Bruce LaBruce
To understand the
modus pornographi
of photographer/filmmaker Bruce LaBruce, it might help to consider his latest movie. Titled
Raspberry Reich
, it's set within the Bader-Meinhof, a church-bombing anarchist gang that terrified Germany in the '70s. It's also full of hardcore gay sex. "I would call it terrorist porn," says LaBruce, who looks like a Britpop pixie in photos and speaks with the quiet deliberation of a semiotics grad student. "It's about a crazy, bourgeois German woman who makes all her straight-boy followers have sex with each other to achieve revolution."
