Dressed to Kill
by Usama Alshaibi

The Black Dahlia may have bombed at the box office this fall, but it was a good excuse to revisit the back catalog of director Brian De Palma. This Halloween, we present homages to two of his most riveting films: 1980's Dressed to Kill, in which unfaithful housewife Angie Dickinson is slashed to death in an elevator, high-class call girl Nancy Allen saves the day, and all the kink implicit in Hitchcock's work is brought to the surface; and 1976's Carrie, which requires no explanation anymore, other than it's perhaps the best-acted horror film of all time. For good measure, we threw a dirty glance toward Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface — because, well, how can you do a De Palma-inspired photo gallery without imagining what was beneath that white dress? — Michael Martin
