I love this work ... I note that the change from colour to black and white really alters the mood of the shots from playful innocence to more sexually charged moments.
childish? the notion that an artist can only handle "constructive" criticism, the idea that somehow one can put up works of art and hope to hear only positive things - like fingerpaintings on refrigerators - is childish. But I refrain from resorting to ad hominems, I only state my opinion on the WORK I see.
I'm amazed at how venemently TK is trying to defend his/her comments. I tried to make a point that his/her rant was counter-productive, but obviously he/she missed the point. Hurtful, negative comments only show me an insecure personality who would rather point out the shortcomings of others than address their own inadequacies. Forums like this one can be used positively to stimulate growth for the artist as well as the viewer. When constructive criticism is offered, the artist can then choose agree or disagree. Unfortunately the anonynity of these forums open the door to people who resort to petty and childish attacks on character and talent. In short...grow up.
The only difference between the concept here and an amateur porn video - a la Dirty Debutantes - would be in technique, composition, and execution. If concept is all that is important, why then everyone hanging out at the local cafe would have their work hanging in the Met. Technique here is awful. Attempts to dodge and burn the girl's face is truly amateurish. The camera angle in the last two pictures of the series is right out of a "how to shoot fashion photos" how-to book. If someone were to take stills from an amateur porn video and put them up on this site, would all those who have been outraged at my first comment be defending that work as well? What is the difference? One big difference WOULD be technique, composition, and execution. But not in this case.
First, thank you SA for eloquently dismissing the petty, non-productive or -constructive remarks of TK. I too feel that this piece, conceptually, is rather intriguing. Hats off to Ondrea Barbe, first for a terrific idea, and second, for excellent execution. As far as seeing more, I might not mind a few more shots, maybe more of the early/meeting anxiety stage, and definitely of the midway, let's-be-playful stage, but i find the "teasing" quality to be more erotic than the below requests for full nudity, what have you. If you want to get off, get porn.
You left me lingering!! I wanted more!!! Art takes its new form, technology and re-expresses itself thru a more "interactive" medium. Ooh Baby!! That's scary. Art thru interaction? Not that controlled intellectual restraint?
A malefriend
I'm surprised by TK's comments... they are neither constructive or productive. I think the series as a concept is great. I agree that the transition between black and white is a bit awkward, but I feel as a whole all of the photos are wonderful. I look forward to seeing more of Ondrea Barbe's work and less of the ineffectual, petty remarks by viewers hoping to see something that keeps their attention just long enough for them to get off.
Nerve must be running low on content. Photo of the day 10/20 looks like it was printed by by a junior high photo class. Hey I'm all for smut, but not for smut that tries to pass itself off as art by adding some kitschy situational twist to otherwise profanely childish technique. Oooh, it's black and white, so it must be art, eh?
Really, really great concept but just plain goofey execution! You may as well have photographed display manikins. And why the abrupt change to B/W? I probably missed the point but I've been staring at this transition trying to figure out its significance, and I don't get it. Sorry

very sexy, more!
Fascinating concept! Do you do that experiment often? I would be interested in seeing more examples if you do. Perhaps you need a photogenic subject?
Cute little write'up on the two....
The Blacks and whites are great. Great shots. I wanna girl widdat cute nonessential butt.
so very very pointless, lame, and unprofessional.
Liked the first pic... very erotic.
Ok, I actually liked this one!

A really great start, but did it "peter out"? pun intended!
it would be nice to be able to read the copy, but yellow on white isn't necessarily the EASIEST.

I believe I would have loved to see both of them compleetly naked.
Thanks

This is well worth a second attempt, though.
ms. barbe, you do great work! an enjoyable, inviting set of photographs. but i do wonder, why the switch from color to b/w in the middle of it all?
