Stolen Glances
by Daniel Cerny
Sophomore year of college was the first time I seriously thought about voyeurism. I was at a party, and there was a porno playing in the background. Co-eds in jeans and tube tops mingled with frat boys in button-downs and baseball caps; beer and booze overflowed from red plastic cups while a blonde woman projected on the wall was taking it from behind. Although only a two-dimensional image, we were reveling in her physicality and in our place on the sidelines.
Daniel Cerny captures the appeal of being a silent co-conspirator in a sexual act. The few men in his images serve as visual conduits to the breasts, thighs and hipbones we'd be fixated on if we saw their owner through a shade-less window across the street.
