Old Flame
by Susan Egan
My introduction to Susan Egan was a wonderful image of an empty, unmade bed that eventually made its way into our office as a poster. "Nice work," I thought, "but tame." Then I came across this picture of a man in the shower, which was electric. You knew the photographer and model had just slept together. When he got in the shower, she grabbed her camera. I would have done the same.
"Can you photograph him again?" I asked Susan at our first meeting. She told me his name was Stephen; they met years ago. He was an artist who worked with fire. The sex had been amazing, but he lived in Minnesota somewhere. Her efforts to find him had been unsuccessful.
I couldn't get this photo out of my mind. Apparently, she couldn't get this guy out of her mind either. A few months after our meeting, I got an email from her. The subject line read, "Fire boy found."
