Hi Vivian. Thanks for letting me know about this website with your photographs. It's great to see some of your work. Your photographs are really beautiful! Nice meeting you at the "Llama farm" wedding in Nashville. Good luck with everything!
Great work loved the color and composition. Looks like you have your career
in photography headed in the right direction. I see some late 60's and early 70's touches. They are honest, sweet and simple.
Your subjects seemed comfortable. Keep up the great work.
Pretty set of photos. Touching, but unfortunately not very lasting. There doesn't seem to me to be a reaching or longing on the part of the artist to explain anything in the larger context of the struggle for lesbian acceptance in society - which I think could have been possible. Most photos were very simple in composition - centered subject with an incidental background. Most notable are shots 5, 10, 13, & 14. 5 shows a deep longing and separation - it could perhaps have been more effective earlier or later in the series. 10 is very nice from a compositional setting and mirrors the questions of gender and roles found in #14. I feel these are the strongest statements. #9, the couple on the roof ledge, could have been so much more powerful if shot from a higher perspective that showed some danger to their position - are they going to jump? Is she rescuing her lover? Are they leaving a world to judgemental together rather than face a criticism of their love?
I love lesbian art - it can speak to me frankly about a world I don't share. I feel this collection is pretty, loving and touching but not very deep.
what saturated colors? its about as muted as they come. . .
can you ever give us anything besides someone's attractive friends hanging out in their underwear?
these photgraphs are beautiful. you're are truly talented and i hope you follow your dreams. i also hope you completely disregard some of the negative feedback peeps are putting up here. it's bullshit. i know some of these girls and they are beautiful and wonderful women. you have captured their beauty and personalities in an amazing way.
WOW! Thanks for letting me know about the photos... They are amazing. You really are so talented and I hope you make all your dreams in artworld reality.
i was happy to see these images today. i think they're beautiful. and, i really don't understand how anyone could fault them because the women have "imperfections". get over it or end up alone loser. so they're not airbrushed or orange from frying in a sunbed, and they don't have gigantic inflatable breasts... they're gorgeous and sensual BECAUSE they are not like that.
reminds me of two very good things things: 1.) my favorite pair of "boy-like" hipster undies i owned when i was 17. 2.) the girl with the pixie haircut who took them off of me before we made out to led zepplin back in 1993.
these are breath taking, beautiful, simple... color and lines balance well... and the light is gentle... thankyou. id even go so far as to want to buy prints. is there anyway to do so?
True beauty is directly porportional to simplicity. This work is unique in its *honest* representaion of the affection betweeen human beings ... period. Sexual orientation? Who cares? Love is love.
These girls are .. what? ... "not perfect"? All the better. True ugliness is exhibited in the so-called "Playboy Model" - *Bizarre* artificiality. I don't think it is possible to create anything more beautiflu than a *natural* woman.
"these impossibly beautiful, bucolic scenes are inhabited by impossibly beautiful muses playing absentmindedly"
um... flabby, scabby, pimply, bruisy; I'm all for verite, but these scared me. Impossibly beautiful? Really?
hey Vivian, congraturations!!!
These photos are great and sort of made me jealous
that you guys were having great time when you were shooting.
am i right? they are so beautiful and i want them stay that way forever.
Interesting photos. And interesting intro. They do seem very natuaral--though am surprised to hear real couples. Did not pick up at first on lesbian thing... The wide faced Karen -Allen-ish girl is very pretty. Not that lesbian often are not:) Just.... there is a sadness to seeing a certain kind of woman topless, as if the erotic lovelyness of breasts is news to her. Reminds me of the bohemianesgue girls often seen in health food stores. So compelling and yet... Am going back to look more.
Felt like being at a party with friends. The kind of party where you end up watching your friends connect and make out and you ought not to be looking, but voyeuristic tendencies take over.
Hi,
Put the numbered navigation on the top of the photos so I can keep the mouse in the same spot and just click the button...please...always helps to say please.
was the photographer attempting to capture the raw, unvarnished and, therefore, much more beautiful images of skinny, pale, and sickly-looking women frolicking on damp rooftops? what is that? is the grittiness supposed to tear down some walls or something? is this supposed to represent a revolution against the torrent of partially-naked perfect bodies the media spews? yawn. and the shots of intertwined bodies from the neck or torso down represents...? is that supposed to represent the detachment of the rational mind from the raw physicality of human sexuality?
is nudity, or partial nudity, or hinting at nudity really that edgy or validating anymore? i'd rather see a series of fully or comfortably-clothed women fishing and then enjoying a nice campfire-cooked fillet together or enjoying a nice horseback ride together for f*cksake. this is just boring.
Nope, sorry. Your generalisation about what it's like to be female, and your anxiety that anyone might think you were(ugghh!) gay!, have totally confirmed it.
Lovely, really beautiful and fresh. Also quite '70's (in a good way) Wasted on Nerve though, I'm just waiting for some straight guy to come post 300 words about the time he watched two 'hot and horny young babes' make out. Sorry, I'm cynical....

I must say your work is very impressive. I would be interested in more of your work.
Maybe a shot to hang on my walls.
Thanks Eric Chappell
Like the composition of the first shot. The others were just snapshots. A little cropping and a better background would have improved the others.
i used to click on the pictures to the right and they would get larger. now they don't. WHY
These images are beautiful. very strong. great use of the frame, fabulous quality of light and color.
I like this style...Photography with soul, great work.

great, real, finally!
This is a great concept. I wish it were the real trip memorialized.

these photos evoked powerful memories of me and my girlfriends in my late teens. I think they're lovely.
