You wear a short skirt and sit a
certain way, your underwear are going to show. This is the source of
much self-consciousness, many grandmotherly lectures, and the inadvertent
arousal of hapless subway riders. It's a particularly prurient thrill,
catching sight of that wedge of swelled fabric in a
train that's normally filled with nothing but panhandlers and anonymous
