After Dinner

These photos by Robert Whitman remind me of a visit I paid to a friend who was house-sitting for her erstwhile employer. While my friend took a shower, I started to nose around the incredibly lavish Central Park West apartment. My friend's boss was the breathtakingly beautiful daughter of a dynastic Argentinean horse-raising family; she was off on some multi-continental trip. The maid had been in, and all evidence of gluttonous hedonism seemed to have been removed from the scene. Aside from an unopened envelope on the dresser, which contained a packet of photographs.
