The Guys
One friend fell out of love with his wife
One is inconsolable his wife left him
One is inconsolable his mistress left him
One can't make up his mind between
two great-looking women
both of whom want to marry him
One can't get to first base with
this foxy girl in her twenties
who just moved to New York
One has launched an affair
with a married woman
One has moved back in with his wife
One has given up drinking and tonight
he will give up smoking
One is commitment-phobic in the approved
manner but can't take his eyes off the skin
between her blouse and her pants and he
doesn't even know her and wants to fuck her
the cad
One would rather scroll than click

Funny and verve-acious. The Left Bank was especially good, the rush of "Don't walk away, Renee" to "all my poems are about you"--love it. Not Cummings or Miller, but good nonetheless.
The new Lehmans aren't as good as the ones you already published.
Whoa. this is possibly the worst poetry i have read recently. how is it that this guy can get published?
i wouldn't normally say anything, but this offended me with its badness. does anyone, please, anyone know what qualified this *stuff* for publication?
so what
"The Left Bank" is a gem we both love it sometimes David Lehman really hits it on the proverbial head.
Listening to him read these adds a whole nother dimension to some already happening poems.
