Announcing Nerve's Emerging Photography Showcase

The Big Idea:
Nerve.com, the National Magazine Award-nominated online publication about sex, relationships and culture, is known for featuring provocative work by cutting-edge photographers (Wolfgang Tillmans, Terry Richardson, Natasha Merritt and Sylvia Plachy, to name just a few). Now we're looking for the next big names in photography.

Winners Announced: Thursday, September 15, 2005


Five finalists will be chosen. Two will be awarded premium galleries on Nerve.com, and will receive $500 each. Assorted images by all the finalists will be showcased on the site.

Judging:
Photos of naked people, provocative scenarios, fashion, portraits, general sexiness. Photo stories, real or fictional, from your life or someone else's. Personal or editorial work. (Key words to keep in mind: exhibitionism, adventure, stylistic experimentation, playfulness.)

Judging:
We're looking for visually stunning photos, but creativity, sexiness and humor also will be evaluated. Get as explicit as you'd like. Our distinguished panel of judges will include:

Judging:
There is no handling fee. If you wish to browse Nerve's Premium galleries, you must sign up for one month of Nerve Premium ($7).

- Images
You may submit up to ten images, and no fewer than six. Images must be in JPEG (.jpeg, .jpg) format, in file sizes no larger than 1MB. File resolution should be 72 dpi, and 600 pixels on the largest side.

- Statement and bio

A brief artist statement (what your work is about and why you make it) and a short personal history — tell us a bit about yourself, including your background in photography. Each should be 250 words or less.
