Video: Did The Shiny Suds Commercial Take It Too Far?

Method cleanser has already publicly apologized for this commercial, in which chemical-detergent bubbles watch a woman bathe while making leering cat-calls at her. Feminist blogs are up in arms over the Droga5-created commercial (also the advertising team behind this gem), so we want to ask: do you guys (and chicks) find this spot inappropriate or clever? Or both? And more to the point, isn't the fact that so many blogs are getting up in arms about this video (and having to embed it to show viewers how rape-y it is?) serve the purpose of making the video even more viral? Ugh, brain barf. Video after the jump.

very funny :)
I thought it was freaking hilarious...but at the same time, yes, quite rape-y. I can see how this wouldn't be seen as "right and proper" for tv. As a viral campaign though, wonderful.
I liked it. But then I'm told I can be a little creepy myself.

I gotta go with hilarious, too. The whole point is that these chemical residues *are* creepy and disgusting. The ad anthropomorphizes them into cat-calling, peeping toms. It certainly doesn't promote rape or other forms of misogyny -- the bubbles are portrayed as obvious wrong-doers (and if you needed help, the O'Reillian reference to the loofah is a great tip-off).
I thought that was freaking funny, the bubbles are supposed to be gross and creepy.
totally creepy.... could not get past it enough to laugh.
It's pretty funny, but there's such a thing as a "trigger" that is difficult for people who haven't gone through an experience to understand... sensitivity is a hard line to find sometimes.
Brilliant, and so European. Time for Puritan America to wake up and smell the suds.
