Say It Ain't So... Weezer Asks Fans To Help Pen Song

That tour bus crash must have really messed up Rivers Cuomo. The Weezer front man revealed on the band's online radio station, Radio Weezer, that he needs fans to help him finish a song he wrote just prior to this month's accident in upstate New York.

“I wrote this tune, ‘Shusui.’ Now I want to write the lyrics. Before I do that, I’d like somebody to produce a better demo of the music,” Cuomo said. The lucky winner will get $208.

Cuomo posted the "Shusui" demo on Indaba Musicand fans can put up their own interpretations as well add on instruments to the track. I've heard the demo and frankly, why risk having a jackass with Garage Band and a Casio ruin it? On one hand, it's very cool for a fan to be given this opportunity. On the other, if Weezer asked me to contribute, I'd probably just glockenspiel the bejesus out of the thing, which  would not result in another "Buddy Holly." You're one of the greatest pop songwriters of the last twenty years, Rivers, own it! But I can think of some people who could use some songwriting assistance from the fans:

-Nickelback: their soft-alt rock formula certainly works in terms of record sales but, the music is so boring. If given the chance to remix "How You Remind Me", I'd generously scatter baaing sheep throughout the chorus.

-R&B Singers: any way I can get a break from T-Pain, I will take.

-The Jonas Brothers: either that, or they should just let the Hansons reclaim the "musical brothers from ultra-religious family" throne.
